Igbo Handwoven Throw TR40 Inclusive Watering: As the soil driesA handwoven Akwete cloth throw from Nigeria traditionally woven by Igbo women on an upright frame loom with a continuous warp. The base cloth is cotton, with decorative motifs added in heavier or contrasting thread; more elaborate modern versions use silk, rayon or lurex. Each motif has its own name and meaning, with certain patterns traditionally reserved for royalty. Size: 116cm x 170cm.
